This circle is slightly oval with dimentions of some 18x15 meters Known as the
'Nine Stanes Circle'
the recumbent stone circle differs from sites such as
Sunhoney or Loanhead in having a recumbent
and flanking stone set on the edge of the inner cairn, while the remaining standing
stones
are set on an oval arc This variation in plan suggests that this circle was
built late in the
sequence of recumbent stone circles. A funnel shaped pit was unearthed in the
center
of the circle, slab lined, and full of cremated bones
